The
Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has
renewed the appointment of its BoT chairman, Alhaji Abdulfatai Adeniyi
Dankazeem popularly known as Jagaban.
The
resolution to renew Dankazeem's tenure was reached on Tuesday during the
National Executive Council meeting of the association held at the association’s
secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
While
congratulating the veteran broadcaster the National President of the
association, Comrade Desmund Nwachukwu described Dankazeem as "a thorough
and refined broadcaster who has impacted greatly on the industry over the
years.
He
pointed out that the decision to renew Dankazeem's tenure as BoT Chairman stem
from the need of the association to further benefit from the wealth of
knowledge Dankazeem has garnered over the years.
He
stated that with the Nation embracing digitization of the broadcast industry
there is no better time than now for Dankazeem to bring his rich wealth of
experience to bear on the industry and called on broadcasters in the country,
especially young and upcoming ones, to learn from the veteran broadcaster and
drink from his deep spring of knowledge.
Speaking
with this reporter in a telephone
interview, Dankazeem who described his reappointed as a call to serve pledged
his commitment to ensuring that the association is ascribed its honoured
position.
"Well,
I see my reappointment as a call to continue to serve and like I have always
done I assure members of FIBAN of my readiness to rededicate myself to the
course of this association. I am totally committed to ensuring that our dear
association is given its pride of place in this country," he promised.
Dankazeem
who has earlier served two terms as Chairman Board of Trustees was the pioneer
president of the association.
